STEVE

I got my first job as a maintenance guy at a miniature golf course when I was in the 7th grade. My first job after high school was being a plumber’s helper. I spent three years as an extra help firefighter and I was employed by several of my coworkers doing work such as pouring concrete, installing chain link fencing, hanging drywall, and plastering. I became a high school teacher and, due to having the summers off, I worked as a painter for several summers. I spent one summer hanging doors in a Days Inn as well.

I have always done all of my own work on my home and I was very busy helping friends on weekends as I could not stand to have them pay to have work done that I could do for them – appliance installation, ceiling fan installation, fence building, garbage disposal replacement, receptacle replacement, etc. I have always enjoyed helping others and I get a strong sense of satisfaction from seeing the relief that my help brings.

I met Alfonso while working as a Maintenance Supervisor in a nursing home in Oakland. I was impressed by his positive attitude, work ethic, and his ability to solve a problem.

Alfonso

Growing up I have always enjoyed the act of helping others with solving problems. I also loved being able to work with my hands as well as my head, so I decided to pursue work in the construction field. I went to Laney College and obtained my Associate of Science in Carpentry as well as working in the carpentry department as an assistant for a year. Since then, I have done work in maintenance and repair work, continually learning through experience. I have one goal in mind, and that’s to help others with their problems and doing the job right.
